RegisterThe Indonesian diaspora refers to the remarkable community of 6-8 million Indonesians living, working, and studying outside of Indonesia. The Indonesian diaspora is an amazingly diverse community whose members can be found all over the world. It is made up of Indonesian citizens as well as persons of Indonesian origin who have become citizens of other countries. From leading the World Bank to manufacturing the world’s microchips, to winning Olympic gold medals, members of the Indonesian diaspora are doing incredible things!

As always, the Congress of Indonesian Diaspora is one of the largest gatherings of the Indonesian diaspora. These colossal events seek to raise the visibility of the Indonesian diaspora and direct attention to the great potential its members possess to contribute to Indonesia. Under the theme “Empowering Indonesia’s Human Capital,” this year’s Congress will specifically focus on the potential of the Indonesian diaspora to advance Indonesia’s human capital development. Through this Congress, participants will see that the Indonesian diaspora is an immensely valuable asset whose importance and promise can no longer go overlooked.

The first day of CID-5 will begin with the Grand Opening and will follow with a series of parallel conference sessions focusing on diaspora issues. Sessions will highlight the achievements of members of the Indonesian diaspora on the international level as well as their contributions to their respective countries and to Indonesia. Events on this day are free and open to the public.
On the second day, we will hold the IDN-Global Internal Meeting where we will elect the new Executive Board and President of IDN Global. We will also plan Diaspora Working Groups and Task Forces for the following two years as well as draft diaspora-recommended policies for the Indonesian government that will be presented in the Diaspora Sectoral Dialogue.
The final day of CID-5 consists of the Diaspora Sectoral Dialogue,a focus group discussion between the Indonesian diaspora and the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan Republik Indonesia) on how the diaspora can play an important role in increasing the number and improving the quality of Indonesian professional migrants.
