Remarks from Dr. Dino Patti Djalal
Chairman Board of Trustee IDN Global
The Indonesian Diasporas, 6 million strong worldwide, have always been regarded as an important force for Indonesia's development. They did not retreat during the Covid-19 crisis. On the contrary, Indonesian diaspora communities across the world continued to provide moral, material and financial support for their fellow Indonesians at home. Indeed, Covid19 has proved to be a defining moment of compassion and solidarity for diaspora communities.
The Congress of Indonesian Diasporas, to be held online on 14 August this year, will provide an opportunity to highlight the enduring spirit of Indonesian Diasporas, and to celebrate their connections with each other and with their Indonesian homeland. The Congress will feature bright diaspora figures and national icons in various discussions, covering development, health, economics, business, technology, society, etc. There will also be lots of fun with various performances from diaspora entertainers.
I hope to see diaspora communities to join this biannual Congress of Indonesian Diasporas, and I look forward to what promises to be an enlightening and inspiration day for all of us.
